Autumn has arrived at The Farm Patch!
We started our PYO pumpkin patch in 2020 with ‘Country Pumpkins’, so we’re now in our 6th year of growing a lovely variety of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes from seed in the patch.
We sow most of our pumpkins in May and raise some of our more fancy varieties by hand in our greenhouse. Then we hand over to Mother Nature to do the rest – the leaves start to die down in September….. and then hey presto, we have ‘the great reveal’!
There are varieties for carving, eg Harvest Moon, Camero & Polar Bear, and quirky knobbly ones like Knucklehead. Then there are our ‘decorative’ varieties, eg. Jill-be-Little, Casperita and Sweet Lightning – which make beautiful displays around the home. Finally a bit of royalty in the Patch, Crown Prince & Casper – culinary favourites!
All of our pumpkins are edible and you can eat every part except for the stalk. Check out our recipe board!

Each year we open for a couple of nights for late night pumpkin picking. Late nights are announced closer to the time, as these events are very much weather-dependent! We recommend bringing a torch, but we do have some lighting around the patch to help you find your perfect pumpkin.
